Efforts to revamp Cameroon’s petroleum code were initiated three years ago by state oil company SNH, later involving Paris-based law firm CMS Francis Lefebvre, but which has seen many changes with the possibility that more adjustments could be made during ongoing deliberations in the Senate.
Upstream understands the draft bill includes incentives to attract suitors into the Bakassi onshore and offshore blocks because this area will be designated as a Special Operations Zone, along with shallow-water, mangrove and swamp terrain.
