Swedish operator Lundin Petroleum is one step closer to a new North Sea development off Norway after completing a successful appraisal and well test of its Rolvsnes discovery, with a tie-back to the nearby producing Edvard Grieg field the likely outcome.

The company now expects the Rolvsnes find in the prolific Utsira High area holds between 14 million and 78 million barrels of oil equivalent, more than four times higher than the earlier 3 million to 16 million boe estimate.
