Lundin Petroleum has lined up chartered semi-submersible Leiv Eiriksson to drill a wildcat at the Silfari prospect off Norway later this year.
The 6307/1-1S probe will be drilled in a water depth of around 236 metres in Lundin-operated production licence 830, about 52 kilometres offshore in the Norwegian Sea, according to a well application filed with the Environment Agency.
The well location lies about 37 kilometres north-west of the Njord field operated by Equinor (formerly Statoil) that was temporarily shut down in 2016 for upgrade work on the Njord A platform as part of a redevelopment project and is due back online in 2020.
