Modec, Bluewater, SBM, Prosafe, Vanguard, Oceaneering, Saipem and Maersk were involved in the November round.
At least three of the contenders have existing floaters they would dearly love to relocate to the Taranaki basin, home of Maari and all New Zealand's producing onshore and offshore fields.
