In mid-2015, Maersk set out ambitious plans to become one of the top five companies by production in the region, bidding to increase output to about 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from 100,000 boepd currently through exploration and acquisitions.
“Now we get resources freed up,” Maersk Oil chief executive Jakob Thomasen told Upstream this week.
He added: “You can expect to see a continuation of our North Sea focus that we have talked about strategically for a while.
