Project co-owner Santos said the accident happened on 23 June at Saxon Energy Services’ Rig 185 at the Fairview field. The man, aged 21, died at the site.
All drilling in Queensland was stopped pending investigations.
All non-Saxon drilling rigs resumed operations by 5 July and the Saxon rigs are expected to restart drilling by the end of July.
Santos said 70 wells were spudded in the project’s upstream area during the second quarter of 2013, including 58 development wells and 12 appraisal wells.
