"Negotiations are ongoing between vessel owner Statoil and Marathon, but no final deal has been signed yet," one source familiar with the negotiations said.
The US outfit has been considering either a fixed installation or a floater, and several sources said that Marathon has opted for the latter, partly because it offers a potential residual value at the end of the field's life.
