North American land drillers see the market for US onshore land rigs improving, helped by higher oil prices and more efficient drilling units.
Calgary-based Precision Drilling, which operates rigs in both the US and Canada, saw drilling activity increase by half in the fourth quarter of 2017 compared to the same period a year previously.
"The improved commodity prices are providing a nice tailwind, but the efficiency and performance of our Super Triple rigs is propelling us forward," Precision chief executive Kevin Neveu said on an earnings call last week.
