Qua Iboe is one of 24 marginal fields re-allocated under a programme to favour indigenous companies in developing long-neglected acreage previously held by majors.
Discovered in 1960, the Qua Iboe-1 well encountered oil pay in sandstone reservoirs at depths of up to 7000 feet.
The Qua Iboe-2 appraisal, which was later suspended, penetrated the same oil-bearing sandstones in 1971 and Mart intends re-entering and testing this well before possible drilling.
