MegaWest, which sold its first batch of oil to a refiner in Kansas, said the oil has been responding favourably to steam injection.
The driller has been injecting steam at 175 to 205 degrees Celsius into the Upper Warner sandstone formation to loosen up the crude.
The company said it expects to increase production to as much as 500 barrels per day by the end of the year.
