United Arab Emirates-based Dana Gas has started drilling at its Merak-1 exploration well on Block 6 off Egypt.
Drilling of the wildcat on the tract in the North El Arish concession area with the drillship Tungsten Explorer is set to take around 70 days.
The well is situated in 755 metres of water, with the target depth thought to be 2600 metres.
