Germany’s Wintershall and Dea have entered into a definitive agreement to combine more than one year after announcing a merger aimed at creating one of the largest independent European exploration and production companies.
Wintershall, the oil and gas business of BASF based just outside Mannheim, and Dea's owner LetterOne, a Luxembourg-registered investment vehicle backed by Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman, will be combined to create a joint venture under the name Wintershall Dea.
