The ministry said plans by Peru LNG a consortium led by US independent Hunt Oil to export gas from the Andean nation matched Mexican hopes of building a regasification terminal at Manzanillo with capacity for at least 500 million cubic feet per day.
Mexican Energy Minister Fernando Elizondo Barragan suggested that Peru might participate in the regasification project, and outlined Mexican plans to auction off the supply rights for the $400 million LNG terminal in July, and have the terminal in operation by 2009.
