The Canadian pipeline giant, through its affiliate TGNH, submitted a bid of $336.7 million in the tender, well below the second lowest offer from Spain’s Enagas, which bid $418.4 million.
A proposal from IEnova, a Mexican affiliate of the giant Sempra, was disqualified for failing to meet the technical guidelines from the CFE.
The 36-inch pipeline will be 420 kilometres long and is intended to improve gas supplies to the central and western areas of Mexico, spanning the states of Hidalgo, Queretaro, Guanajuato and San Luis Potosi.
