BHP expects to retire its Minerva gas field offshore south-east Australia at the end of 2019 or early next year.
The subsea field has been on stream since 2005, but production has dropped to very modest levels.
BHP said in a regulatory filing that a “cessation phase” is expected to begin within 18 months of the end of production, with the flushing of the Minerva flowline and cutting and plugging expected to take one month.
