While the well confirmed the presence of the prolific oil zone which was hit by the Cameia-1 wildcat, a drillstem test carried out on a deeper, new objective failed to produce oil.
The results mean Cobalt will continue to press ahead with development of the shallower play, as originally planned, via subsea wells tied back to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel, but will need to search elsewhere on its Kwanza basin acreage to look for commercial deposits of crude held in the newly discovered reservoir.
