Industry sources said the Bumiputra-UK combination has received a letter of intent for the engineering work on the tension-leg platform project. with a formal contract award to follow shortly.
The deal, assuming it is confirmed, will be a breakthrough for Kuala Lumpur-based MMC-Amec and fits in well with state oil company Petronas' ambition to develop Malaysia as a regional hub of deep-water expertise.
