Japanese floater specialist Modec has reached an agreement with Chinese yard Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) for joint work on the newbuilding and conversion of floating production, storage and offloading vessels, writes Xu Yihe.
The pact signed last week will also commit both companies to co-operate on module engineering and fabrication for FPSOs.
Industry officials said that the current arrangement will see Modec act as the lead contractor, while DSIC will be a subcontractor for the engineering, procurement and construction work for any potential FPSO projects.
