Ecopetrol has plugged and abandoned the Molusco wildcat after disappointing results from the latest well on a gas-prone play off Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

Upstream understands that the Molusco-1 well hit hydrocarbons but will be declared a sub-commercial discovery.

Molusco was given a high billing by Ecopetrol, as it was the Colombian flag carrier’s first experience in operating an offshore wildcat, leaving aside a joint venture with the former Talisman Energy (now part of Repsol).
