Ever since Anadarko, operator of Offshore Area 1 established that it had found enough gas to underpin an onshore liquefaction facility, it has been talking about 2018 as its on-stream target date, a view shared by Area 4 operator Eni as it later began to find equally huge volumes of gas.
A large field — called Prosperidade by Anadarko and Mamba by Eni — straddles the boundary between Areas 1 and 4, and is expected to provide the feedstock for four initial liquefaction trains to be built at a dedicated site in Cabo Delgado province.
