As Italy's Eni and US supermajor ExxonMobil head towards a final investment decision on their multil-billion dollar Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique, the huge scale of the undertaking is becoming clear, writes Iain Esau.

South Africa's Standard Bank estimates that some 20,500 workers will be employed during project construction, which it believes will cost $27 billion to $32 billion, with 1300 workers needed once operations are under way.
