Mozambique’s government will deploy special forces to Cabo Delgado province after suspected Islamist militants killed one person and injured six others in armed attacks on Anadarko Petroleum road convoys last week, just 20 kilometres from Palma where a mega-liquified natural gas complex is set to be built.
On Monday, President Filipe Nyusi ordered special forces to be sent to the restive region to combat insurgents and protect oil companies and contractors.
