Polling stations closed on Tuesday in gas-rich Mozambique’s presidential, legislative and provincial elections, with President Filipe Nyusi and the ruling Frelimo party widely expected to retain power, writes Iain Esau.
Official results from the polls do not have to be announced for 15 days, but early indications suggested Nyusi was expected to retain Maputo City and Gaza province.
Some news reports said the results could be announced late this week, after Upstream went to press.
