A DESIGN competition looks likely to emerge soon for companies pitching their conceptual ideas to develop Murphy Oil's Medusa discovery in the Mississippi Canyon area of the deep-water Gulf of Mexico. The company has said openly that a spar facility was likely for the development but, according to a recent design basis issued by Murphy to vendors, the operator continues to evaluate possible use of a mini tension-leg platform and a MinDoc facility, among others.
