Protracted demonstrations against Myanmar-China oil and gas pipelines have taken a novel twist after a group of protest leaders put a curse on the projects’ joint operators.
Four men have been charged with putting the curse on Myanma Oil & Gas Enterprise and China National Petroleum Corporation.
The men who placed curses on the state-owned counterparts at several cemeteries in Ann Township, Rakhine State — from where the onshore export pipelines start in Myanmar — face charges under Myanmar’s Peaceful Assembly & Peaceful Procession Law.
