Nabors in vanguard of the drilling action

Services giants such as KBR and WorleyParsons play leading roles for ExxonMobil in Victoria, Australia, but another company has quietly achieved 10 years of service at the forefront of the operator's production drive, writes Russell Searancke.

US driller Nabors has provided platform rigs for the US giant's Gippsland basin operations since 1995. Rig 453 has been the star of the show, starting off as a workover unit and being converted in 1998 to a platform rig for infill drilling.

A second Nabors platform rig was with ExxonMobil for four years in the late 1990s before being moved to the Maui field off New Zealand.
