NAM made a recommendation to the Netherlands government that production from its giant onshore Groningen gas field should be cut after a tremor that registered 3.4 on the Richter scale on 8 January.
In order to meet safety criteria, NAM's advised the Minister of Economic Affairs to consider a number of options including cutting annual production from 21.6 billion cubic metres per year.
