Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussain Shahristani said the originally pre-qualified Japanese players will be able to compete for the field against other international oil companies.
Shahristani’s comments were made during a joint press conference with Japan’s Trade Minister Akihiro Ohata, who visited Baghdad to urge the Iraqi government to resume talks with the Japanese companies.
“Iraq shall announce a bidding round for the Nassiriya oilfield in the coming period of this year, and we will invite pre-qualified Japanese companies to compete with other international oil firms,” Shahristani said.
