NIGERIAN independent Aiteo Eastern E&P is investigating a suspected explosion and fire on 2 March at the Nembe Creek Well-7 in Bayelsa State, close to the Nembe field logistics base, writes Barry Morgan.
Local reports spoke of fatalities, injuries and damage to private property, but these were denied by Aiteo.
The company stressed that the incident occurred well away from the 97-kilometre Nembe Creek Trunkline (NCTL), which transports crude to the Bonny export terminal in neighbouring Rivers State.
