Iran has named former economic affairs and finance minister Masoud Karbasian as the new chief executive of state-owned player National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
Karbasian, who in late August was removed by parliamentary vote from his ministerial post, takes over from long-time NIOC head Ali Kardor, who recently retired from the job.
Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh confirmed Karbasian’s appointment on Sunday, also naming him as a company director for four years.
