Well Safe Solutions, a UK-based decommissioning specialist, is set to buy semi-submersible Ocean Guardian from Diamond Offshore for dedicated well plug and abandonment work.
Well Safe said it would invest $100 million on upgrading the 34-year old rig, to be renamed Well-Safe Guardian.
The rig will support a dive system and will deploy an innovative subsea intervention lubricator which Well Safe is developing with Aberdeen-based Oil & Gas Technology Centre.
