Mohamed Ahmed Ould Ghazouani won last weekend’s presidential elections in Mauritania with 52% of the vote in the first peaceful transfer of power between democratically-elected heads of state, replacing his mentor Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz - whose favour he retains, writes Barry Morgan.
