GABON may get a new petroleum code sooner than anticipated as lawmakers this week concluded a debate on legislation to replace the 2014 regime, a move designed to spark renewed interest in the country’s upstream sector by incentivising companies and reducing government take.
Although dated 28 May and as yet ungazetted, Upstream understands Law 2-2019 for Governing the Gabon Hydrocarbons Sector is the final version awaiting signature by Petroleum, Gas & Hydrocarbons Minister Pascal Houangni Ambouroue and assent from President Ali Bongo Ondimba.
