According to newly-released data from UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) data, the release happened on 16 September and measured 490 kilogrammes, placing it in the most dangerous “major” classification.
The figures, covering 1 July to 30 September, have just been released publicly through industry association Oil & Gas UK.
Nexen told Upstream a failure of pipework within a drain system led to the release of a gas and water mix from the drain line.
