THE China National Oil & Gas Exploration & Development Company (CNODC) has won approval from the government of Benin to proceed with the portion of the Niger-Benin Pipeline proposed to evacuate crude exports from Niger’s Agadem basin to Port Seme on the Atlantic coast.

Now headed for ratification in Benin’s Parliament, the decision by the Council of Ministers to approve “structuring investments” follows a bilateral agreement on 23 January between Benin and Niger for the construction and operation of the pipeline, according to a government statement.
