THE militant threat has returned to Nigeria’s Niger Delta with the most vociferous faction known as the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) vowing to resume sabotage and “bloody, destructive and vengeful attacks” against oil and gas installations in the western delta from midnight on 30 June.

Citing alleged abuse of oil producing communities by Delta State's Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, an NDA statement issued days ago said militants will “resurrect the spirit of the insurgency and demand a better deal for the people… crippling the oil industry in Delta State.”
