NIGERIA aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 13 million tonnes per year under the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP), writes Barry Morgan.
The programme aims to monetise wasted flare gas under an emission credits/carbon sale plan, according to the programme director Justice Derefaka.
“By our design, third party investors are to access and utilise flared gas and convert into Flare-Gas-to-Market-Products (FG2MP) and demonstrate project development experience and proven technology in commercial application,” he told a gathering of potential investors in Houston.
