Nigerian Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Atiku Abubakar said voter turnout was low in last weekend’s gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, blaming the violence and irregularities experienced by a jaded electorate during presidential elections held in late February, writes Barry Morgan.
Abubakar lost the presidential elections to incumbent head of state Muhammadu Buhari, flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but last week challenged those results before the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
