The Canadian independent recently took up a 30% non-operating interest in the Lhokseumawe production sharing contract in western Indonesia, making it the 21st Indonesian block in which Niko owns equity.
The operator, Zaratex, is drilling the Candralila-1 well to be followed immediately by the Ratnadewi-1 prospect using the jack-up rig Hercules 208.
If the wells are successful, Niko said they can be monetised “relatively quickly by accessing the existing extensive local infrastructure”.
