Nine more players join race for Lebanese riches

Nine more companies, including players from Qatar, Russia and Iran, have applied to prequalify for bidding in Lebanon’s offshore licensing round.

They join more than 40 international oil companies already qualified to participate in the tender, Lebanon’s first effort to search for gas in its Mediterranean waters.

The list of the new prequalified companies will be announced on 13 April.
