CNR International has been served with an improvement notice by the UK offshore safety regulator after no alarms were signalled to alert workers of an emergency on the Ninian Southern platform when a hydrocarbon leak led to the activation of the facility’s blowout preventer.
The uncontrolled release occurred from well 58 on 5 February. Nobody was hurt.
