Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new managing director to run state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as part of his plan to root out endemic corruption in the organisation.
In wider moves to tackle major transparency and graft problems in Nigeria, Buhari also appointed a committee to advise him on corruption issues, directed government ministries, departments and agencies to pay all revenues, incomes and receipts into a single treasury account, and finalised plans to appoint external forensic auditors to analyse the accounts of revenue generating agencies.
