Ruurd Hoekstra, Nord Stream’s construction director, said Saipem’s Castoro 10 vessel has completed its shallow-water duties off Germany ahead of schedule.
This vessel was used for installing 56 kilometres of line, some on Greifswald Bay, which is where 20 ships lie after the Swedish navy deliberately sank them in the 16th century in the Great Northern War.
The two other vessels currently laying pipe are Saipem’s Castoro 6 and Allseas’ dynamically positioned Solitaire, sub-contracted by Saipem.
Castoro
