The deal has options for three more similar units, with the first scheduled for delivery in 2016.
The contracted unit is a small and simplified multi-purpose drillship, designed for riserless top-hole drilling, light well intervention and well completion operations, as well as wireline and coiled tubing operations and subsea construction work in shallow and deep water in the North Sea.
Meanwhile, Norshore has secured the drilling equipment package from National Oilwell Varco (NOV), which previously supplied a similar drill kit to the Batamec yard in Indonesia for installation on Norshore’s first drillship, the MT 6022XL-design Norshore Atlantic, which is currently undergoing sea trials.
