Canadian proppant supplier Select Sands will continue to hold off expanding capacity at its Northern White sand mine in the US state of Arkansas amid dwindling Permian basin demand as operators have increasingly switched to in-basin supply to save on transportation costs.
The company's 223-acre greenfield facility in Independence County, announced in April 2018 and scheduled to be completed by the end of that year, would have increased production capacity by 400,000 tonnes per annum, or two thirds, from 600,000 tpa to a total of 1 million tpa.
