The government action came after the NSA announced new measures that threatened to halt oil and gas production within three weeks.
"An escalation would result in a stoppage of oil and gas production on the Norwegian shelf and entail huge consequences to society," Hoybraaten said. "It would also have a negative impact on our oil and gas deliveries to the continent and on Norway's credibility as a reliable gas supplier."
