Two small fixed platforms have remained on location since production was shutdown in late 1999 because they hosted two exploration wells drilled into EnCana's Deep Panuke structure and had been considered for re-use in the now-stalled Deep Panuke project.
Since they will now not be needed on Deep Panuke, a decommissioning plan has been developed, initially focusing on two suspended probes and then on removing the platforms.
