Spirit Energy has kicked off production from its Oda field development off Norway five months ahead of schedule and nearly 15% below budget, writes Steve Marshall.

The North Sea field, which is the maiden operated development for Spirit, has been developed as a subsea tieback to the AkerBP-operated Ula platform for a final cost of Nkr4.6 billion ($538.3 million).
