NORWEGIAN investment player Aker ASA does not expect renewable energy to out-compete oil and gas anytime soon.

Backed by an industrial history stretching back 175 years, the holding company sees a bright future for oil and gas for decades to come.

“It is not realistic to believe that renewable energy will entirely replace oil and gas for many generations ahead, so oil and gas must be an integrated part of the green shift,” Oyvind Eriksen, Aker’s chief executive for the past seven years, tells Upstream.
