Two female rhinos under threat from poachers in South Africa could soon be on their way to a safer new home, helped by a recent fundraising effort at the African Petroleum Club.

About £10,000 ($12,860) was raised through an auction at the venerable Royal Institution in London, with the proceeds going to three charities — UK-based Poached Rhino, Gondwana Conservation Trust in South Africa, and Zimbabwe’s Tikki Hywood Trust, which focuses on less well-known threatened species such as the pangolin.
